Bereavement Support
With over a decade's experience of working therapeutically within children's hospice care, this is an area of specialist interest and expertise. Grief is a natural process which can sometimes be frightening without the resources to make sense of, or express confusing emotions. If left unresolved, complex grief can lead to difficulties which have a lifelong impact on educational and employment attainment, self-esteem, and relationships.
A bespoke package of support can be designed to utilise elements of play therapy and creative arts counselling, combined with relevant information about grief processes. Sessions may include making meaning, identifying and strengthening continuing bonds, and developing a sense of permission to enjoy the world again.

Children and young people of all ages need clear and factual information about their losses and the feelings they might experience. Understanding the family context is important, and support is provided to parents/carers which can be beneficial in creating a framework for open communication within the home and family.
Consultation is also available to schools to help develop policies and practices to feel equipped to support both students and staff with anticipated and unexpected loss.
