Creative Arts Counselling

When dealing with overwhelming or confusing experiences and emotions, we can find ourselves 'lost for words'. Creative Arts Counselling combines the use of expressive media (such as art, sand, clay, symbols) with the principles of person-centred counselling to provide a new way of making meaning when the words cannot be easily found. There is no requirement to be 'good' at art, as it's all about the process not the product.

Creative Arts Counselling can also be an effective way to meet the more verbal processing needs of adolescents and young people who may benefit from an opportunity to safely explore artistic representations of their experiences without fear of judgement.

Young people over the age of 16 years can self-refer. We would explore any obstacles to open communication with parents/carers, and provide support where this might be possible, but it would not necessarily prevent a referral being accepted.
